1) His shoes could be used to mine precious minerals, as seen above.

“Are those spikes?” ESPN’s Rece Davis then asked. “If you dribbled a ball off your foot, you’d deflate the ball in Tom Brady-esque fashion, instantaneously.”

“Whoever gets me is getting a jewel, you know what I mean?” Oubre told ESPN immediately after he was selected. “I feel like I’m a steal in this draft. I’m ready to win a championship. And whatever team gets me, we’re winning a championship, and I’m ready to put the work in to do so.”

2) He has a lot of confidence. Like, even more confidence than a normal first-round NBA draft pick.

“I’m relentless,” he went on. “A lot of teams passed on me, but that’s fine. You know, they made great picks. A lot of great guys in this draft. But whoever winds up getting me, I’m definitely going to give them 110 percent effort, to pretty much show everybody what I can do, and show that I can be great one day.”

They were certainly something.

The Wizards last won a championship in 1978. That’s going to make Oubre’s march down Pennsylvania Avenue all the sweeter.

Anyone watching Thursday’s NBA draft will have noticed two things about Kelly Oubre Jr., the Kansas product whom the Atlanta Hawks selected at No. 15 for the Wizards.

Here’s how the draft work .1) The draft will start at 7 PM ET/4 PM PDT. At that time, the Wizards will utilized the five mietnus to decide the first pick, which will be a no-brainer.2) Every team involve in the draft will have five mietnus to decide who they want to choose before handing their final decision to Commissioner David Stern, who will then announce the team decision for that pick. The draft will go from 1 to 30 in order. The five mietnus is the time the team can make the decision, but it takes another minute or two to confirm the decision because they have to call or fax their pick to David Stern, plus make sure that it’s the pick they want.
