Along with the official word, the furious designer asked that photographers and media outlets either eliminate photos of the protester or “blur” him out. Mr. Owens also provided a behind-the-scenes comment to Women’s Wear Daily.
The demonstrator carried a cloth with a handwritten message conveying a bizarre threat to Germany’s chancellor: “PLEASE KILL ANGELA MERKEL,” followed by the word “NOT.” The designer’s fashion house was quick to release an official statement asserting that the act was not a part of the show, which Mr. Owens said was about single-minded determination and the struggle not to tip it into aggression. Mr. Owens’s models wore collaged layers of leathery tunics, and some had faces obscured by frizzy helmets of hair.
A Paris runway show for the men’s wear collection by the designer Rick Owens was interrupted on Thursday when a model staged a one-man political protest.
