The British designer behind the ever increasing success of one of Paris' most important luxury brands, Kim Jones chooses his favorite looks from Dior SS20 exclusively for British GQ
If King Midas had a thing for Nike Air Force Ones, Pomeranians and diamond-encrusted Rolexes, the Ancient Greeks would have probably mixed for him for British designer Kim Jones.
Jones, after all – much like Midas – has the ability to turn, if not everyday objects, then tulle, cashmere and grain de poudre into solid, bankable gold.
His latest collection for LVMH-owned super brand Dior, shown in a purpose-built iceberg-esque space in Paris's Fifth Arrondissement on Friday, was a case in point.
An eminently fluid, improbably elegant, entirely effervescent paean to the kind of olde glamor that prevailed in the age of Monsieur Dior and his "New Look" (finished, naturellement, with some Jonesian futuristic fairy dust), the collection read like a love letter to expertly cut double-breasted suit jackets, perfectly draped overcoats and pin-sharp trousers you’d never want to take off.
Following the show – which was attended by Kate Moss, Blondey McCoy and Virgil Abloh, to name just a few – we caught up exclusively with Jones to discover his favorite looks from this, his third seasonal outing for Dior.
"Just because it’s you."
